NFC-A TAG is a physical NFC tag that gives a nearby phone a fast route to a chosen piece of information or action. Attach it to an object, then write a link, contact, instruction, or plain-text note to the tag.

How does an NFC tag work?

Bring a compatible phone close to the tag. The phone reads its compact NFC chip and can present the saved text, website, phone number, or other supported destination.

What can an NFC tag open?

An NFC tag can open a current checklist, manual, contact, form, return instruction, caregiver note, service history, or a simple plain-text message stored directly on the tag.

Does someone need an app to scan a tag?

Usually, no. Most current phones can read a standard NFC tag with their built-in NFC reader. An app may be useful when you want to write or rewrite the tag yourself.

Which phones can scan NFC-A TAG products?

Most recent Android phones and iPhones support NFC. Keep the phone unlocked, make sure NFC is enabled on Android, and use the product’s QR fallback when it is available.

Are NFC stickers a good fit for equipment or home?

Yes. NFC stickers create a compact access point on a clean, dry surface when a lightweight tag is the right format for the object.

What are near field communication tags, and what does the NFC chip do?

Near field communication tags hold a small NFC chip. The NFC chip stores the message a nearby phone reads when someone taps the tag.

Where should I tap the phone?

Try the upper back of an iPhone or the center back of an Android phone. Hold the phone still for a moment, then move it gradually if it does not read on the first try.

Can I change what my tag opens later?

Yes. A compatible unlocked NFC tag can be rewritten with the NFC-A TAG Writer or another compatible NFC writing app. If the tag opens a webpage you control, you can also update that page without changing the physical tag.

Will a tag work without internet?

A simple text message stored on the tag can be read without opening a webpage. A website, form, or other online destination needs the scanning phone to have an internet connection.
